Pennsylvania Construction Worker Injured in Scaffold Accident Fall

Pennsylvania Construction Worker Injured in Scaffold Accident Fall

Last week, a Pennsylvania construction worker fell 12 feet from a scaffold, suffering serious injuries. He was flown to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. At this point, the details regarding the cause of the accident are unknown.

Scaffold accident injuries are very serious, usually because of the height of the fall. In many instances, workers suffer head injuries in addition to bodily injuries like spine and head injuries.

In our practice, after having represented many scaffold accident victims, one of the main causes of these kinds of accidents is negligent construction of the scaffold itself. Another cause of scaffold accidents is improper securing of items on the scaffold. For example, items may fall from scaffolding and strike innocent bystanders below. In fact, just last month in New York, an actress was hit in the head by a piece of lighting equipment which fell from a scaffold.

Time and time again, injured workers believe that the sole recourse in a scaffold accident case is workers’ compensation. While of course, any Pennsylvania worker injured on the job can make a workers’ compensation claim. However, there may be additional claims available. In scaffold accident situations, the following parties may bear liability for the accident:

  • scaffold manufacturers,
  • scaffold component part manufacturers,
  • scaffold construction/erection companies,
  • contractors,
  • subcontractors, and
  • architects.

It is vital to have a scaffold accident case reviewed and investigated by a knowledgeable Pennsylvania and New Jersey scaffold accident lawyer.
