Nailers Recalled Due to Potential Trigger Malfunction

Nailers Recalled Due to Potential Trigger Malfunction

*For immediate release

Over 8,000 RIDGID coil roofing nailers and 4,400 RIDGID framing nailers were recalled today by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the nailer manufacturer and product importer. These nail guns were manufactured in Taiwan and imported by a South Carolina company. They were sold at Home Depot stores and homedepot.com this year for approximately $230.00.

These nail guns have been recalled over concerns about trigger malfunction which can lead to unintended discharge of a nail. Although no injuries have been reported yet, this is a very serious risk, as involuntary discharge can be fatal if a nail is discharged into the head or chest. If not fatal, serious injuries may result, including brain injury, blindness or internal damage.

The recall involves the following nailers:

  • Coil Roofing Nailer Model R175RNE, serial numbers: ER114600001 through ER1217008424
  • Clipped Head Framing Nailer Model R350CHE, serial numbers: ER114600001 through ER1215004424

If you own one of these nail guns, please contact One World Technologies at (800) 597-9624 for a replacement.

Pennsylvania & New Jersey Dangerous Products Law

In a situation where a tool malfunctions, there are two potential legal claims: design defect and manufacturing defect. A design defect involves a defect inherent in the product’s design, whereas a manufacturing defect is a defect that occurs in the manufacturing process.

In Pennsylvania and New Jersey, those who have suffered injuries as a result of a defective product, like a nail gun, may be able to obtain financial compensation for the injuries. Product manufacturers, importers, retailers, and distributors may be held liable for designing and selling defective goods.
